Pearland ISD version 2.0: trustees move forward with $2 million technology upgrade

Technology upgrades totaling ineptly $2 million for district-wide improvements were approved by trustees at a Pearland Voluntary School District board meeting held Tuesday Feb. 21. The technology container was part of a $4.3 million district improvement project approved at the January 10 plank meeting.
Of the total, approximately $300,000 will go to purchase 3,084 Dell absolutely-panel computer monitors costing $97.30 each. Classrooms and administrative offices are currently equipped with older monitors that trustees had thitherto agreed to replace.
School board members approved another $1.5 million to stretch the district’s virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), which included $315,000 for three Dell Equallogic Storage Square Network Arrays (SANs), $654,472 for 6,200 Citrix Xendesktop Venture (VDI) licenses, $ 90,000 for four Dell M1000E Blade Server Enclosures and $462,000 for 66Dell Jackknife M710HD 128GB Xenservers.
Roughly $159,785.64 was approved to purchase 12 Avaya 5632 Ethernet routing switches that will be reach-me-down to support the district’s virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). The expenditure includes a $500 usefulness support contract for each routing switch.
